Menagerie Weekend

We had a fun and busy weekend. Auntie DeeDee came to town on Friday! We went out to breakfast and lunch, got ice cream and a haircut for Brett, played tee-ball, had a Father's Day indoor picnic, and rode horses in the basement.

Maggie and Bretty love DeeDee very much.

After Devon left, we met Lucas, Shayna and Sarah at the Tilden Park Little Farm in Berkeley. We brought lots of celery and lettuce, but Lucas was the only kid brave enough to feed the animals. We saw pigs, cows, bunnies, turkeys, chickens, sheep and goats.

Afterwards, we went to the Tilden Park Merry-Go-Round to ride some animals.

The kids were exhausted after our Berkeley outing!

Take Me Out to the Ball Game

This past Saturday was a big day for the kids. They attended their first ever baseball game! It was a pretty nice day - by San Francisco standards - so we headed down the hill to PacBell Park* to catch the World Series Champion Giants take on the Reds. We assumed the babies might only by good for a few innings (though surprisingly they lasted longer than Tim Lincecum did that day) so we bought standing room tickets and roamed the outfield arcade. This gave us a great view of McCovey Cove and The Bay (boats!) while still giving Bretty his badly needed baseball fix. We're not kidding... he LOVES the game.

Other highlights included the twins' first bus ride (you never forget your first ride on MUNI), a hotdog lunch and Maggie's incredibly cool hat. We're not kidding... she LOVES her hat.

Daddy and Little Papi show their allegiance to the Red Sox in Giants country:

*I know it's been AT&T Park for a few years now, but I've got a limit on the number of corporate named stadiums I'll commit to memory.

Memorial Day Picnic

It's a beautiful Memorial Day weekend in SF and we decided to have a picnic at The Palace of Fine Arts. Mommy packed up a nice lunch of salami, cheese, olives and fruit. The twins chowed down, played in the grass and went on a duck hunt around the palace grounds. Here's one shot of the whole family:

And here's a slide show with a few pictures from our day. iDevice friends (since Steve Jobs hates families) please click on this photo:

One last story to pass along. As we were preparing to leave the house today - picnic bag packed - we figured we'd change diapers before taking off. While we were changing Maggie, Brett showed that he didn't want to wait to get the picnic started. He climed up on the chair and began gnawing at the baguette we had already packed away. As usual, he found his antics hilarious.

The Natural

Looks like practice makes perfect. A few swings later he hit one over the wall and into the neighbor's yard. Guess Daddy's gotta get working on that new fence.

Special Visitors and a Duck Hunt

Uncle Dave and Aunt Leanne (Dave-o and LeeLee) came to the Bay Area for a fun Napa weekend with some friends. They came over on Thursday evening and Brett and Maggie were very excited to see them, although they were a bit disappointed that Nemo the cat didn't come with them. Here they are reading stories before bed.

Today we met our friend Matteo at the Oakland zoo. We rode on a merry-go-round and a little train! But the funniest part of the day was when Bretty and Maggie chased some ducks. They can actually run. Maggie loves to wear skirts and her little pigtails are getting so long!

A Fun Weekend with Grandma and Papa

Mommy and Daddy went to Maryland for Cousin Brian's (very fun) wedding last weekend. Brett and Maggie had a great weekend with Grandma and Papa! They went to the aquarium and Costco, got Mickey and Minnie dolls, and ate lollipops. Lots of good pictures!

Baseball Hats

Brett has been asking for a baseball hat for a while, so Daddy ordered hats for himself and the twins. It was another nice day in San Francisco today, so here we are on the deck in the evening. The kids are wearing their warm-weather jammies, and everyone looks great in their hats.

Fun in the Sun

It was a very warm day in San Francisco today. Brett and Maggie walked to the park this morning with short sleeves and no jackets, which is almost unheard of. Mommy got so hot in the park she said we should come home and let the kids play in the sprinkler in the backyard. Daddy said they weren't ready and wouldn't want to do it. Daddy was right. Brett has a singular focus when he's outside -- baseball -- and the sprinkler didn't lead him astray. Maggie didn't want to go near the water either, although she did leave her hat on, which was a first.
In the afternoon, we went for a walk and got ice cream!
